 Ramiro Z

  G. Ramiro Z has become world famous world wide and is duly called the "Euro-stallion" of his day. Preferent Ramiro decends from the famous male linage combination Rainmond - Ramzes x - Rittersporn xx. The anglo arabian Ramzez represents one of the basic blood lines on which Holsteiner breeding has beeen founded. Ramzes gave a new dimension to sport horse breeding. Ramiro's dam is  Valine, who aquired international fame as a show jumper by the name of Corrale under Lutz Gossing. She is a daughter of the reputable throughbred Cottage Son, who became famous through his son Consul. Ramiro's dam is frm linage 776 one of the most valueable Holstiener female blood lines going back to Achill and Edelbert.
In 1969 Ramiro was the absolute top stallion of his performance year and was not only used for breeding but was successfully showjumped. he was ridden by Fritz Ligges and excelled in his puissance performances, up to 2.2 meters as well as in competition where speed was essential. Ramiro moved to the Netherlands to Studbook Zangersheide in 1979, and came to the netherlands 2 years later. on rhe basis of of his breeding efforts that had earned him worldwide fame, he was declared horse of the year at jumping Amsterdam in 1992.
G. Ramiro Z progeny can be describedwith one word: sublime. He supplied a large number of stallions approved in the Netherlands and abroad as well as an impressive series of sport horses. In the Netherlands his sons Almiro, Armstrong, Bernstein, Dageraad, Damiro, Elmero and Zeoleit were approved. His daughter the super mare Ratina Z is the dream of the show jumping world, winning both gold and silver at the Barcelona Olympics and, under her new rider Ludger Beerbaum, claiming the Volvo World Cup of 1993.

  Ladykiller

He was an averaged sized, clearly masculine type with a beautiful head, really heavy neck, good shoulder, rather flat loin, and a nicely coupled, heavily muscled croup. He had first rate legs and feet for a Thoroughbred and was an elastic mover. He was everything a state breeding program could wish for. With his 35 approved sons and 195 approved daughters, he has had the greatest impact of all on the Holsteiner breed. His best produce came through crosses with mares with some Thoroughbred blood. This was just the opposite case as with Anblick. When crossed with coarse, common mares, he produced accordingly. Today he must be viewed as one of the most important jumper sires of modern times.

  LeMexico

Born in Normandy in France, Le Mexico was a lineal descendant of the legendary Irish bred foundation sire, the Thoroughbred, Furioso, the son of Precipitation. We can trace his genealogy along the row of generations... Marco-Marcovil-Hurry On... and back to the 17th century foundation sire, The Godolphin Arabian. Furioso was imported to France in 1946 where he became the star performer at that 'horsy chateau', the old fashioned national stud of Le Pin. Here, in the cradle of the famous apple brandy of Calvados, Furioso produced, amongst others, Lutteur B - ridden by Pierre Jonqueres d'Oriola to a gold medal at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, and d'Oriola's 1966 World Champion, Pomone B. Furioso's son Mexico was a gem of a cross, out of Dame de Ranville, by Talisman. Mexico's full-brother Furioso 11, became a foundation sire in one of Germany's most important breeding areas - Oldenburg. Mexico himself, stayed in France as a 'public officer' where he became the sire of showjumpers like Rambouillet (Grand Prix, Vienna), Rush du Camp (Olympic Games, Mexico City) and Jexico du Parc (Olympic Games, Los Angeles); Bred by that connoisseur, the late Alfred Lefèvre of Falaise, Le Mexico became the real successor of his male lineage. As a resident of Holland, he produced the approved stallions, Silvano, Ulft, Zelhem, Zonneglans, Astronaut and Expert. These half dozen have been important, especially Ulft, who has had a remarkable influence on Dutch Warmblood breeding.

  Furioso

Born in England in 1939, the Thoroughbred colt, Furioso was to become one of the most influential sires in modern performance horse breeding, even though he never won a single race in his 21 starts! He was as ‘well balanced but with slightly knock kneed forelegs and tight hocks’.
The authoritative De L’etalon Sport Français of 1992, remarked: ‘he had good bone, and walked liked a Lord, with a magnificent pace, very energetic and showing a great deal of amplitude, his tail swinging at each step. His trot and gallop were good but not exceptional. Though full of life he was docile and had a good temperament.’
Furioso xx, was the leading sire of winners in France from 1954-1961. His son, Lutteur B (pic below), who went on to win the 1964 Olympic individual gold for showjumping, amazed the German breeders when he appeared at the Hamburg Derby. Maas Hell, in Die Grossen Hengste Holsteins records the reaction: ‘The Germans were again amazed at how nonchalantly Lutteur B performed on the jumping course, how he played with the distances, and how, with a long neck, he left the course as though nothing had happened.’

picture of Array[breed] Array[gender] "Array[name]"   Grannus

Origin: For many years Graphit had been the most famous sire of the Haenigsen covering station ("Gotthard's station") and especially in combination with mares of this line he sired many top horses for breeding and competitions, i.e. the performance sires General, Gitano, Grundstein and last not least Grannus.  His dam, the state premium mare Odessag had a "show jumping" pedigree due to the combination of the famous Trakehner sire Ozean and Gotthard.

Performance record: After his bad luck at the stallion performance test (according to the old pattern, that was totally changed in 1980) Grannus was not in great demand.  However, he was able to prove his qualities as a show jumper ridden by his owner's sons.  He successfully competed in show jumping competitions up to advanced level.

Breeding record: His first crop in Westphalia brought the state stallion Gunter and the international show jumpers Goby and Gigolo.  Then he sired international top show jumpers one by one:  the approved stallion Grannenfels, Gigi, Grand Slam, Top Gun, Grannush, Granny Fox, Garfield, Grand Plaisire, etc.  In 1992 he was the leading sire of his age-group.  Two of his progeny (Impeerial and Governor) competed in the individual show jumping competition in the Olympics.  To date Gunter and the Oldenburg champion stallion Gervantus I (successful show jumper, Federal Championships) as well as the DLG mare Burschikose are his most convincing progeny in breeding.  At the beginning of 1993 Grannus went to eternal rest: He died during a stallion display in front of a big crowd. *

  Grannox   grannox_photo2

Grannox is a perfect example of consolidated performance breeding and in the first five generations of his pedigree, he only carries Hanoverian/Westphalian top sires.

His sire, Grannus is still one of the leading sires of show jumpers in Europe. The dam's sire Paradox I was one of the great sires of performnace sport horse breeding.

 Calypso

Calypso, was the top performer of all the jumping components of his performance test. Calypso is licensed in France, Denmark and Holland. He has produced licensed stallions in all these countries. His offspring are not only known for their jumping ability, but also display excellent action.

  Tacorde

Tacorde's sire Olympic Concorde Keur -- Preferent (Voltaire Keur-Preferent x Marco Polo Preferent) was named Horse of the Year in Holland in 2003.  Concorde is the number one producer of show jumpers by money won in the USA in 2002 with his offspring earning nearly $200,000 in 2002 on the American show jumping circuit.  He is also listed on the top ten for show jumper stallions world wide.  Voltaire was named the number one hunter producer in the USA in 2002.  Tacorde's Dam Narcis W -- Keur is by the immensely popular Goodtimes (Nimmerdor x Caletto).  Goodtimes has produced many successful horses in both the jumper and dressage rings and several approved stallions.  Goodtimes is known for producing offspring with excellent confirmation, good looks and athleticism for any discipline.  Narcis W's grand sire on the bottom is Damiro who is known for adding tractable minds and more great athletic ability.Tacorde possesses a ton of presence and is one of the few Concorde sons available via fresh semen in North America.  He has an especially strong mother line of predikaated dams and stallions known to produce exceptional athletes with great minds and conformation. In 2003 he was licensed with the Canadian Warmblood and Canadian Sport Horse and was especially noted for his correct conformation and free jumping ability.

Rasalinda - Le Mexico

Larino is a son of the sports horse producer of the 21st century, Olympic Concorde. Concorde already has a great number of children that perform at international level. Larino has in his pedigree four famous and successful showjumper producers. Larino's dam Erina is a daughter of the famous Ramiro offspring, Armstrong. In the report the KWPN judge made, she is described as a very nice mare with a lot of expression. The stallion Larino is out of a lineage that produced many sports horses in the motherline. For example great grandmother Rosalinda (Cassy) got a 10 for jumping under the saddle at her IBOP in 1981. At an older age this mare won many 1.30 classes with Janny Horsey.

Grandmother Warina, by Ridder, is a ster-preferent-performance mare. She produced the international jumper Romulus, which was second in the Grand Prix of Gothenburg with Peter Geerink and the approved stallion Couperus. He is for example the sire of the famous stallion Mr. Blue, which jumps extraordinary well with Alice Haas. The very interesting motherline of Larino starts with the dominant Holsteiner stallion Normann. At Ermelo during the 70 day Performance Test, Larino was described by the jury as a stallion which jumps with a very good fore-leg technique and a very good use of the back. Moreover Larino shows a lot of scope and a superb canter. Larino was Reserve Champion of the IANcompetition for 4 year old horses in 1997 in the Netherlands and also at the Finals of the UTV jumping class for 4 year olds. At the first round of the Stallion Competition at Giesbeek Larino was awarded two times a nine for his jumping technique and scope. In 1999 Larino and Peter Geerink started their international career by participating successfully in the Youngster Cup at Arnhem, The Hague and Mechelen and he was awarded ‘the coming stallion’. In 2001 Larino made his Grand Prix debut in style. He finished 2th in The Hague, 3th in Valkenswaard and he had a fantastic clear round in the nations cup in Rotterdam, as well as equal 6th in the Grand Prix. He was the youngest competitor at the Dutch Championships in Mierlo, where he finished 6th. His oldest offspring, Redefin and Siep, are making a big impact on the jumping scene by winning at the IAN-finals at Ermelo in 2002 and 2003.

  Concorde KWPN - Keur-Preferent - bay - born: 1984 - 1.69 m.

Concorde comes from very strong jumping lines on both sides. Sire of this stallion, who in jumping circles is known as Olympic Concorde, is the impressive dominant breeding stallion Voltaire, who via his sire Furioso II and Gotthard is bred to perform. Voltaire is the number 2 in the World Breeding Rankings for Showjumping Sires in 1996. Voltaire through the performances of his offspring stands very high in both the dressage and jumping indexes. Due to his high ranking position, Voltaire was given the "keur" and "preferent" predicates at a very early age. Concorde's dam, Flyer, is by the legendary Marco Polo, one of the most influential Dutch stallions in breeding and jumping with representatives such as: Irco Polo, Pybalia, Marius, Orpheus, Mr LA, Pierrot and Recruut. Flyer is related to the international jumper Vivaldi, which under Melanie Smith was speed horse of the Year in 1980. Flyer produced at least 6 (inter)national jumpers. Concorde was himself an international jumper with Jos Lansink. They won the Grand Prix of Nordrhein-Westfalen at Aken and they were Champion of the Netherlands in 1994, 2nd in the Grand Prix of Amsterdam, 2nd Darmstadt, 2nd Lanaken, 2nd Helsinki and 2nd Gothenburg. The last three years Concorde was the sire with the most offspring at the World Breeding Championships for young horses. In the year 2001 the "preferent" Concorde has proved himself to be an absolute top sire of international sporthorses. His offspring Audi's Jikke, Kathja, Conquest II, Larino, Viktor and Isabella proved themselves at the very top at Grand Prix level (1.60 m.). In the Grand Prix of Rotterdam 3 from the top 8, had Concorde to thank as their sire. At the international horseshow of Maastricht Concorde had 11 offspring in the international finals! Concorde was the youngest stallion ever to be awarded "preferent", due to his endless list of national and international children.

  Voltaire

VOLTAIRE is the result of crossing two outstanding bloodlines: Furioso II and Gotthard. Furioso II produced 200 state premium mares and at least 70 approved stallions of which several are standing at stud in other continents. One can easily say that Furioso II has influenced the breeding industry worldwide. The full brother of Furioso II is the French stallion, Mexico. His son, Le Mexico, is a familiar name in Dutch breeding and frequently appears in the pedigrees of successful showjumpers. The dam's sire, Gotthard, is, now more than fifteen years after his death, almost a legend in German sports horse breeding and his name is simply a synonym for the Hannoverian showjumper. Gotthard's strength is continued in his sons and grandsons, but also indirectly on the dam side of, for example, Grundstein and Grannus. Vital in VOLTAIRE's pedigree is the connection in the third generation to the Thoroughbreds More Magic (sire of, amongst others, Moscow Gold Medal winner Mon Cherie) on one side and on the other side Furioso (sire of the Gold Medal winners Lutteur B and Pomone B). As an 8-year-old, VOLTAIRE jumped 1.50m courses with a great deal of success. He showed his strength in international jumping in 1988 in Calgary, Stockholm, Lanaken, Helsinki, Wiesbaden and Wembley and in 1989 he brought his showjumping career to a successful ending by winning the Grand Prix of Berlin with Jos Lansink and 2nd in the Grand Prix of Leeuwarden. VOLTAIRE was the sire with the most offspring at the Olympic Games of Atlanta in 1996. VOLTAIRE is a Keur and Preferent stallion with the KWPN in Holland. Moreover, VOLTAIRE is second in 1999 on the World Breeding Ranking of Showjumping sires. VOLTAIRE has over 30 approved sons in Europe. Many of his offspring jump at Grand Prix level: Finesse, Altaire, Kahlua, Play It Again, Helios, Electro, Danta, Especial, etc., etc. Foltaire, ridden by Gunther Seidel, is a famous offspring of VOLTAIRE in the international dressage ring. VOLTAIRE is the sire of One More Look - Elite and high-scoring foal of the NASFA 2002 Foal Evaluations

   Nimmerdore

As a sire, Nimmerdor has been equally successful, even before he retired from the competition arena, his progeny were starting to make their way through the ranks. Nimmerdor is currently ranked 29th on the World Breeding Federation ranking for the period 1992/2001 on the basis of a staggering 42(!) international level jumpers. These include such stars as Himmerdor with Paul Freimüller, Broere Goldenbridge and Wout-Jan Van der Schans, Heartbreaker and Peter Geerink and Canadian Colours and Jill Henselwood. Nimmerdor has proven himself to be the sire of sires. At the time of his death he left 18 approved sons, and 37 approved grandsons. His son Aram was the sire of Olympic gold medalist, De Sjiem, and two stallion sons - Faram and Graham. In 2000, Nimmerdor was elected 'the stallion of the 20th century' in the Netherlands. At the moment, 25% of the top 150 Dutch jumping horses are out of Nimmerdor mares. Nimmerdor passed away at the age of 31 in April 2003.

 Damiro B

In 1988, Damiro was Champion of his performance test with five 9s and two 8.5s.  Damiro jumps very carefully and skillfully with a good lift-off, a sound technique and an excellent eye for a stride.  He took first place in the A category jumping of the 1989/90 National Stallion Competition.  In 1992, Damiro made his international Grand Prix debut. Damiro has especially good foals. They are noted as being well-developed, with excellent legs with solid joints. They show outstanding movement, particularly a superior trot. Damiro has several approved sons, including Hilton and Le Byou P.  In 1998, Damiro was listed as one of the top 200 sporthorse sires in the world.

 Marco Polo

Marco Polo is considered to be the most influential Dutch stallion in breeding and jumping.  He is the grandsire of Milton, the famous Whitaker Olympic mount and the sire of several keur stallions including Legaat, who was the champion of his testing. Marco Polo was a Trakehner by the Thoroughbred POET XX, he was small but produced excellent jumpers, which have been successful all over the world and include Melanie Smith's top speed horse VIVALDI and MARIUS, who won so much when ridden by the late Caroline Bradley and sired the word famous MILTON. His best sons to stand at stud are LEGAAT, sire of ADIOS and COSMOS, RECRUIT, and IRCO POLO, sire of IRCO MARCO, a Swedish International jumper MARCIO XX.

    Darwin  Darwin

In 1990 Darwin presented a collection of his royally developed offspring, that gave sufficient evidence of becoming classy riding horses. There was not a single foal that had not inherited his excellent movement.
The head is reasonably correct. The neck is long, well-shaped and connected. The wither is very long and developed. The shoulder is long, and is well positioned. The loins are well connected and muscled. The tail is often set on high. The foreleg is well positioned and well developed. And often, the joints are strongly developed. The walk is easy for the foals and they have good scope; in the trot the foals show good scope and balance. There were several foals that were definitely superior in movement; a number of foals have the tendency to lift their tail and to waltz around very confidently.
That Darwin's progeny is greatly appreciated is demonstrated by the fact that no less than three of his sons were sent on to Ermelo in 1993. One was sold by his owners to Denmark, before the start of his Dutch performance test. Many of Darwin's stallion progeny have been selected and approved by other European studbooks. Following is a glimpse Darwin's offspring, totaling nearly 600 world wide.

      Furioso II

The Germans rushed to get their share of Furioso blood. Perhaps the most influential was Furioso 11 who died in 1986 having sired 81 approved sons, 96 dams of approved sons, and progeny earnings of DM9,000,000.Furioso II was imported to Germany by the legendary Oldenburg breeder, George Vorwerk (father of Gudula Vorwerk who currently stands a string of stallions, including - and until his recent death, Rubinstein). Furioso II was out of the great mare, Dame de Renville, who produced a series of wonderful horses when mated with Furioso. The first of these was Mexico, who standing at the French National Stud of Le Pin, sired 20 approved sons, 20 dams of stallions, and famous international showjumping horses, including Laeken, Jexico de Parc and Heur de Bratand. His son, Le Mexico, has been a hugely influential sire of jumping horses in Holland.
Furioso II was interesting to the Oldenburg breeders as they needed a half-blood stallion to help make the transformation of their mares to more modern lines, without too much direct Thoroughbred blood.
Furioso II was approved for the Oldenburg studbook in 1967, and then went on to easily win his 100 day test. Later he was approved for Hannover, Rhineland, Hessen and Westfalia. For many years, Furioso II was ranked in the top three sires of leading money winners in Germany. Furioso II had winners in all disciplines. His showjumping stars included: FBI (with Thomas Frühmann), Heissman (ridden by Eric Van Der Vleuten, then Michael Matz) and For Pleasure
    .
